- Julien Hübsch | Winner of the Grand Duke Adolphe Prize - Salon du CAL 2023
- Nov. 10, 2023
The jury of the Grand Duke Adolphe Prize at the Cercle artistique Luxembourg (CAL) exhibition was awarded to Julien Hübsch for his series of works "my motorcycle."
"Despite his young age, the jury noted a real coherence and great maturity in his work," explained CAL in unanimously awarding the Grand Duke Adolphe Prize to Julien Hübsch. The 28-year-old was honored for his three pieces entitled "my motorcycle IX," "mymotorcycle VII," and "my motorcycle XIII."
According to CAL, "his work compellingly questions contemporary issues, such as overconsumption. Through this approach, he critically examines current societal challenges, such as sustainability and lightly touches on anti-capitalism. The use of materials primarily reclaimed from public spaces and their treatment is reminiscent of street art and acts of vandalism." Julien Hübsch will have a solo exhibition at the Galerie Schlassgoart in 2024.
The Grand Duke Adolphe Prize is awarded every two years to the best artwork presented at the CAL exhibition.
