Exhibition Moritz Ney with Moritz Ney at Reuter Bausch Art Gallery

Moritz Ney was born in 1947 in Luxembourg. He is known for his dynamic and energetic representations of the Schueberfouer, an iconic fair where the excitement of preparations energizes every corner. Rides, carousels, and attractions are getting ready to welcome both young and old in an electrifying atmosphere.

The artist's floral universe blossoms on the canvas with striking intensity. "I, who have never been particularly drawn to floral paintings, was captivated by the softness and brilliance of his petals. Tulips, irises, and other varieties almost seem alive under his brush."

For his sculptures, Moritz Ney favors recycled materials, boldly mixing raw wood, plaster, iron, and glass. Combined with bold colors, his works exude an aesthetic that is both rustic and playful.

After leaving school, Moritz Ney briefly joined the Luxembourg army as a volunteer before pursuing a short career in the customs administration. In 1967, he decided to dedicate himself entirely to art. His first immersion into the art world came in 1968 at the workshop of Luxembourgish sculptor Aurelio Sabbatini. He then enrolled at the Staatliche Werkkunstschule in Trier, Germany, to study sculpture and drawing. When the school closed the same year, he continued his apprenticeship with painter, ceramist, and sculptor Albrecht Klauer-Simonis in Höhr-Grenzhausen. There, he created a portfolio that opened the doors to the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Karlsruhe, where he studied from 1969 to 1972 under the guidance of professors Herbert Kitzel and Horst Egon Kalinovski in painting, and professor Hans Kindermann in sculpture.
